Lead QA Engineer at Kaia Health

In 2016 we set out with the mission to make effective, evidence-based therapies available to patients who suffer from chronic diseases. As back pain is the number one cause of disability worldwide with over 1 billion affected people, we built our first product, a clinically-proven mind-body therapy app, to help people with back pain.
The role encompasses:
At kaia we put user experience first. Today we have more than 250.000 users across multiple apps. We are now looking to streamline our QA process to ensure product quality as we scale up our engineering team.
  • Define our QA Strategy together with our CTO
  • Define, own, and report on quality metrics of all system components
  • Investigate and prioritize issues by estimating impact on user experience and escalate relevant and actionable information to the development teams
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the product and define acceptance criteria during product specification
  • Manage the manual testing process:
  • Write and maintain test cases and test scenarios to meet coverage goals
  • Execute exploratory, functional, acceptance, regression tests
  • Establish and manage a team of manual testers
  • Work closely with our engineering teams:
  • Evaluate and ensure the testability of the code base
  • Guide all engineers in terms of test selection, methodology, and coverage
  • Create and maintain automated UI tests
  • Proactively improve our development and testing process to increase product quality
Your profile:
  • 3+ years experience in QA, Software Engineering, or equivalent field
  • Experience with different testing methods and techniques (functional, smoke, regression, sanity, blackbox,.. )
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to concisely and exhaustively transfer information in written English
  • Thorough understanding of client-server architecture and interaction, basic knowledge of databases, version control systems, agile methodology, general programming principles
  • Ability to analyze and trace issues across the whole stack (state, client, server, database, infrastructure) and document them in a way that they can be reproduced easily
  • Experience with bug-tracking systems (we use JIRA), CI/CD tools, and UI testing frameworks
  • Hands-on experience in manual testing and writing automated (UI) test cases
Ideally you also have:
  • Understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts to an extend that you are able to develop a testing strategy for machine learning / computer vision based products (see AI Lab)
  • Experience in leading and training a team of manual testers and other QA Engineers
  • Experience with crowdsourced testing agencies (Applause, Testbirds, etc)
  • Solid understanding of German
