We know it’s what everyone says, but we genuinely believe that a great startup is built by having the right people who believe in the mission, embrace challenging situations and want to be the best version of themselves.

 

As the VP of People, you will be working alongside the CEO, being instrumental in taking our company to the next level. You’ll continue to grow a high-performance team and build a great culture. To get us there, you’ll need a strategic vision and knowledge of the best people practices.

 

Over the next 12 months, we will double in size and expand to another five countries (we are currently a team of 65 in three different countries). During the first six months, you’ll implement everything the best way we can and in your second six months you’ll execute at a pace which supports growth.

 

This is a really special opportunity for someone who is emotionally intelligent, people-driven and a natural leader in rapid-growth startup environments. We’re looking for someone who understands what it takes to build great businesses to establish themselves as a core member of our leadership team.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Identity & culture - You’ll be responsible for facilitating how our culture and values are represented across the company - how they influence the entrepreneurial (yet collaborative) behaviour and overall happiness in the workplace.

Internal coach - Operating as the key people advisor and employee relations expert, you will provide coaching and guidance across the employee lifecycle. This includes performance and skill development, employee engagement, employee relations, talent management and succession planning.

Hiring - You will build your own team. You’ll work with them to design and roll out a great on- and offboarding process, and deliver training to ensure all hiring managers are equipped with the skills to find and hire amazing people.

Operational processes - You will own key strategic people projects, working with the team to define, develop and deliver these projects in line with business objectives.

Team management - You will manage, coach, mentor and support two People team members (People Manager & Office Manager/EA) to help them develop their people capabilities. You’ll build out the People team as you see fit for the business.

Company leadership - Owning and running your own department, you will help to lead the business. You are not afraid to challenge the leadership team, including the CEO.

L&D - We really want to invest in our employees, so we would like to design an incredible learning & development program within the business to ensure all of our team members are happy and have the tools they need for personal and professional progression.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Proven growth mindset - You’ve most likely been at another fast-growing business and you thrive in dynamic working environments.

Intuitive and approachable - In addition to being highly emotionally intelligent, we also value humility, honesty and listening skills.

Pragmatism - You come with a strong people operations background, but you also know what works (and when) through experience of trial and error. You get things done.

Strategic thinker - You are able to think laterally and have a clear vision of how to make people and business thrive. You’re confident and comfortable communicating your ideas, both internally and externally.

Inspirational leader - You are able to inspire, influence, coach and develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels. Team members naturally come to you for advice and coaching.

Technology and startups - You are excited about the mission at Zego. Changes and innovative environments excite you more than they scare you.

Data driven - You are able to extract and present actionable insights from our hiring and people tools where relevant.
