Product Manager at Nutmeg

DESCRIPTION

The role in a nutshell:

 

As we continue to shake up the investment world, Nutmeg is looking for smart, curious people experienced in product development who are passionate about building fantastic user-centric and commercially viable online and mobile investment solutions.

 

The role will see you take ownership of a key part of the Nutmeg customer journey and be accountable from a front and back-end perspective for the overall customer experience for your focus area.

 

In this role, your primary responsibility will involve ownership of the Nutmeg website in terms of ensuring it meets set KPIs, and is fully optimised to best guide and educate users through to becoming Nutmeg customers. This is a pivotal cross-functional role where you will work closely with many stakeholders across the business and in particular proximity with Marketing, UX and Product stakeholders. In addition, you will be the Product lead for key functionality that supports the Nutmeg website, for example content management systems, analytics and optimisation tools.

 

You will be the custodian of best practice for how the website should operate in terms of operational processes, supporting technologies and commercial management.

 

You will work in a highly collaborative way within the Product team and across the organisation to successfully deliver strategically aligned product development whilst aiming to exceed your set KPIs.

REQUIREMENTS

What you’ll need to do:

 

Product functions

  • Become a respected and trusted leader within your agile team, despite not necessarily being a direct line manager.
  • Develop a deep on-going understanding of the website’s commercial performance, understanding how users flow through the site and ways in which the user experience can be optimised to improve performance
  • Co-ordinate complex operational changes to the website working across multiple stakeholders in different teams to ensure change is delivered effectively and efficiently and key goals are consistently met and that Nutmeg always meets its regulatory obligations
  • Become the go-to person for all aspects of the website’s operations, both from a technology delivery perspective and Marketing activity co-ordination perspective
  • Work with the SEO subject matter expert to define a roadmap that delivers user-centric, engaging experiences that drive organic traffic to the website
  • Define, implement and justify a CMS strategy to ensure the best methodogy for delivering content to users and provide the best internal tools to support this.
  • Work closely with the Optimisation lead to define and deliver an effective testing strategy for your area.
  • Become the voice of the customer; continuously develop a deep understanding of how users interact with Nutmeg within your area and use these learnings to build great products they’ll love.
  • Execute a user-centric product development approach that embeds the voice of the customer into the Discovery phase through an appropriate user research/testing plan.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen by building strong business cases that define the product’s success criteria
  • Communicate team status and key milestone achievements across the business.
  • Define and manage a highly organised Roadmap and supporting backlog for your area to ensure your team is delivering products that will most positively impact customers and the business.
  • Be passionate about the Product Development process, always striving to improve how Product is built to ensure teams operate to their maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Promote innovation in product design, always being mindful of, and working within, the framework of a strong financial compliance regime.
  • Take ultimate responsibility for product decisions, and be prepared to justify those decisions to all levels in the business, from the board down

 

 

Interaction with Engineering

  • Lead and inspire agile team members and stakeholders to success without being their line Manager
  • Build trust and respect with engineering and across the whole Product & Technology functions.
  • Run assigned agile teams through iterative Discovery and Delivery sprint cycles.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies: daily stand-ups, planning meetings, retrospectives
  • Balance business and technical objectives and translate these as clear priorities for the Engineering team
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure set tasks are delivered

 

Interaction with Stakeholders

  • Create and maintain a positive working environment by building strong relationships with teams and management
  • Demonstrate your team’s work at weekly Concept Reviews
  • Be an escalation point - always acting in the interests of our customers while balancing the needs of each department
  • Be the glue among departments and create shared understanding by translating ideas & concepts into technical or layman’s terms
  • Strive to continuously develop knowledge and understanding of best practices within the product management discipline and how this may be applied to your work
  • Ensure that your level of technical knowledge is sufficient to converse with engineers and be able to translate this into layman’s terms for the rest of the business
  • Keep up to date with innovation in the tech sector, as well as the shifting technical landscape as it applies to Nutmeg

  • Strive to continuously develop knowledge and understanding of best practices within the product management discipline and how this may be applied to your work
  • Ensure that your level of technical knowledge is sufficient to converse with engineers and be able to translate this into layman’s terms for the rest of the business
