Firmware QA Engineer at ROLI
London, GB

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic QA Engineer to join the ROLI Firmware Team. You will take responsibility for ensuring the quality of firmware across our innovative range of hardware products.

Your main focus will be ROLI’s creator experience and guaranteeing the quality of the technical implementations on updates to our existing products as well as new products in development.

The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience that demonstrates key competencies necessary to succeed in this role including organisation, self-motivation, and the ability to work successfully within a team. You will also take initiative and drive change when needed.

This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a disruptive category of music making devices we are creating called ‘Connected Music’ - a network of hardware and software, platform and developer products that will revolutionise how music is made.

What you'll do:

  • Ensure quality of firmware across the ROLI hardware product range
  • Work closely with the firmware team to specify and test new features
  • Run regression tests before new releases
  • Maintain up to date test plans
  • Develop the use of test automation across the firmware team

What you'll need: 

  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Previous QA experience
  • A passion for music and music technology
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes
  • Knowledge of bug tracking systems (e.g. Jira)
  • Ability to understand and talk about complex technical problems
  • Excellent organisation skills and an eye for detail 
  • Excellent communication skills, flawless written English
  • Superb and demonstrable time-management skills and the ability to work independently

Bonus Points: 

  • Extensive knowledge of hardware music controllers (including MIDI protocol)
  • Some C or C++ coding experience
  • Experience working at a startup company
