Data Architect at Revolut
London, GB
From clunky apps to hidden fees, banking is broken. So we decided to build a company from the ground that would challenge the bigger players and reinvent how people interact with their money — for the better.
Traditional banks are slow and expensive. Realistically, you’re nothing but a number to them with dollar signs attached. So, one continent at a time, we plan on changing this.
To put it bluntly — it’s about getting shit done and owning what you do. We don’t hide behind fancy job titles or set up bureaucratic processes. Instead we treat our people equally, fairly and give them a ton of freedom and autonomy to create something awesome.
We make mistakes, we learn from them and we back everything up with data and logic.
In three years, we’ve grown to over 700 people and we’re adding around 30 new additions each month. From engineers to marketers, we’re on the hunt for exceptional talent to help us scale our business and get Revolut in the hands of millions of people everywhere.
We are looking for a strong, experienced, hands-on Data Architect who will help us sort out our data. When Revolut started, the company was simple enough to be run from a single room and our data could fit on a single Postgres instance. Now we have grown to hundreds of employees, and data has grown even more. In the last year, the volume has grown 20x and yet still, there are so many new datasets to be added! How do we make sure we don’t get lost in all this and can answer any question in a matter of seconds? We are creating a centralised team that will be in charge of creating tools that will sort out all our data access and quality problems. And you will be leading this team.
Making sure our dashboards are never too slow and are alway available.
Ensuring everyone in the company can access data required for their work (and prevent unauthorised access)
Create and maintain views or aggregated tables that will simplify the data life of other departments
Implement and own the data quality control framework
Mentoring other engineers
Empathy and excellent communicational skills
Very strong SQL optimisation and profiling skills
Deep understanding of how analytical databases work
Experience with Exasol and BigQuery are a huge plus
Solid experience in software engineering, particularly using Python
Understanding the best practices of data modelling
You’ll get to work in one of the hottest and fastest growing tech startups in the world right now
We’ll arm you with all of the latest tech equipment
Competitive salary & equity
29 days of holiday (excluding bank holidays)
Private pension plan
