Governing all things we do at infarm, from plants to Infarmers, is a large network of contractual relationships. These have to be effectively managed, maintained, and coordinated with both internal and external stakeholders, so that the “backbone” of our business can support the company’s rapid growth. 

We are looking for an experienced and strategic General Counsel to build up our new legal team and provide strategic legal advice for our C-level decision-makers.

Who You Are

As our General Counsel you will be the main adviser to infarm’s leadership team. You will report to the Chief Executive Officer and partner with other members of the leadership team. Your in-depth understanding of infarm’s business and how legal issues affect our organisation and processes will allow you to effectively guide the company’s decision-making and build up our legal team to be the “backbone” of our business. Further, you will be directly involved in complex business transactions, negotiation of critical contracts, and the implementation of new business models. 

The successful candidate will be able to understand the company’s ambitious expansion goals whilst ensuring legal compliance and limiting risk exposure. 


  • Identify relevant compliance standards for infarm’s entire company operations and kick-off implementation. Anticipate legal, compliance, or other issues and estimate risks whilst implementing preventative action
  • Act as first point of contact for all internal legal questions 
  • Decide when external legal advisers should be activated and lead communication to ensure on-time and in-budget delivery of work
  • Advise on all risk mitigation efforts including but not limited to: insurance, group structures, taxation, and intellectual property 
  • Own and advise on infarm’s intellectual property strategy including trademarking and patent registration
  • Lead and develop the legal team based on infarm’s growth expectations


  • Law degree by an accredited law school and admitted to practice law
  • 7-10 years of experience in a prominent law firm
  • Overall broad legal knowledge (food production and distribution regulations, corporate law, litigation, labor law, IP law, competition law, etc.)
  • Experience working on matters of corporate governance and with a board of directors
  • Start-up experience and affinity with start-up-specific company challenges preferred
  • Experience with managing other lawyers and their own team
  • Experience in directing strategy and managing complex IP-related cases
  • Food or FMCG experience preferred but not required
  • Outstanding leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent judgmental and analytical skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving capability and resiliency
  • Superior negotiation skills
  • Excellent English speaking and writing capabilities
  • Second language proficiency in other major European language preferred but not required
