People Manager (Interim or FTC) at Nutmeg
London, GB

You will be trusted with managing the day to day HR operations for Nutmeg, ensuring that we strengthen and develop the relationships our People & Talent team has with our leaders and Nutmeggers.

In this role, you’ll be a key partner to the business; supporting managers and Nutmeggers with day to day people queries and issues.

What you’ll need to do:

This is a busy, fast-paced role. You’ll be managing high-level people challenges, including employee relations, policies and procedures, creating board level PowerPoint presentations.


General People Activities

  • Manage employee relations and issues whilst being responsive, understanding and helpful
  • Be one of the trusted go-to Nutmeggers for operational people queries by developing trust with managers through regular touch-points and ongoing relationships
  • Identify ideas and improvements and make proposals on how we can be the best people team we can be and best Nutmeg we can be
  • Co-owner of Nutmegger life cycle - making sure every part of their journey with us is a positive
  • Manage our rewards and salary initiatives
  • Produce effective MI to support business decisions
  • Manage our performance review process
  • Co-own our people policies and procedures and update them as we iterate and ensure we are up-to-date
  • Be a champion of our benefits – always considering how we improve our benefits offering
  • Drive operational good practice in people data management, processes and fair treatment
  • Drive action in project work e.g GDPR and SMCR
  • Payroll activities – ensuring our finance team receives the correct information each pay run
  • Manage our EE survey – work with the People Director to improve how we measure and strengthen engagement
  • In partnership with the People Director, develop a learning and development culture, through:
  • Coordinate logistics of internal and external development programmes with the People Coordinator


Engagement Projects

  • Be the driving force for engagement initiatives to strengthen and build on our culture. These will span:
  • Embedding values & benefits in all we do
  • Drive a culture of performance and delivery through OKR’s
  • Being a champion of diversity projects linking our Women In Finance and Stonewall Diversity Champion commitments to how Nutmeggers can bring their whole selves to work
  • Empowering and developing manager skill, confidence and knowledge through coaching and addressing challenges they face, including operational people practices, legal risk and day-to-day people issues and queries
  • Guiding managers and Nutmeggers on how we can develop them as individuals- identifying needs and possible solutions and tracking progress in a structured and sustainable way
  • Facilitating development of and driving ownership of Nutmegger development plans
  • Coordinate logistics of internal and external development programmes with the People Coordinator



What you’ll need to have:

Qualifications / Experience

  • CIPD Level 5 or similar qualification and/or a minimum of 5 years practical HR experience
  • Significant knowledge of and exposure to complex ER cases
  • Proven understanding/ experience of working in a fast pace, circa 180 employee business
  • Technology experience preferred
  • Employment law knowledge: In-depth understanding of the principles and ability to apply legal guidelines in the grey as well as the black and white and provide practical options
