Head of Quality and Regulatory Compliance at The Hut Group

We are looking to recruit a Head of Quality and Regulatory Compliance to drive and support product safety and quality assurance for THG as part of our manufacturing processes.

Main Responsibilities

To drive and support product safety, quality assurance and compliance.

You will ensure that the company maintains the Quality Management System and is compliant with legislative and customer requirements.

You will be managing, developing and guiding a team that manages internal Quality assurance, external audits and supplier approval processes. To do this effectively you will need to ensure that they are aware of industry developments and best practice, legislative and customer requirements, monitor compliance against the quality policy, support the ‘technical’ interface with all sales accounts providing technical information i.e. specifications, and that when they receive complaints /non-conformance reports and responding with corrective actions. Manage any incidents that arise. You will also be responsible for investigating and ensuring continuous improvement of route cause analysis for any non-compliance.

 

Technical Duties

As Head of Department for technical quality your influence will be crucial to supporting the development of the function across all sites.

This role will manage the technical and quality functions to ensure all factories operate to the highest standards and in accordance to BRC v7/ relevant standards for Manufacturing 

Manage the Technical Team, including QMS Managers and Quality Process Managers.

Establish a culture of informed pro-active risk assessment within the business and ensure the technical team is regarded as an approachable but robust centre of excellence

Provide and manage a set of key performance indicators that monitor and further develop technical standards within the business.

Ensure batches released to the market comply with quality and food safety standards.

Oversee any third party audits, maintenance and follow-up (e.g. BRC, ISO 9001:2015, halal, etc).

Regularly review the performance of staff against agreed objectives, identifying any training and development needs.

Oversee handling of Customer Complaints investigation, using relevant tools to establish root cause and corrective actions

Take part in internal and external audit requirements as per auditing schedule

Drive improvements in quality awareness

Lead on quality management system maintenance and improvement

Support departmental strategy

To interact and assist all other departments to ensure swift and positive conclusions to customer and supplier issues

REQUIREMENTS

To be considered you will need to have the following qualifications / skills:

You will have a proven track record managing a technical quality function in food manufacturing

Experience of 3rd party/internal audits and technical visits.

You will have excellent management and communication skills with the ability to develop your team to reach their potential.

Previous experience in identifying and driving quality and continuous improvement objectives will enable you to make a real contribution to the site.

You will be degree qualified or equivalent within a science related discipline plus Food based qualifications – HACCP & Food Hygiene/Safety

Familiar with BRC Food Safety Version 7 and BRC Storage & Distribution Version 3

Experience with ISO 9001

Be able to work cross-functional with other departments

You will be able to demonstrate a high degree of planning, organisational and analytical skills and be able to work with and communicate with all levels in the business.
