Global Regulatory Manager (Food Division) at The Hut Group

THG is looking to recruit a Global Regulatory Manager for Food and Food Supplements with previous experience and a good understanding of regulations pertaining to labelling of Food / Food Supplements to lead our Global Food Regulatory Affairs team.

With a focus on brand protection, the Regulatory & Compliance Team plays a critical role in ensuring that our products can be marketed and sold all over the world. Based at our Head Office at Manchester Airport, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the global success of The Hut Group and our market leading brands.

Main Responsibilities

Managing the overall responsibility of several food regulatory frameworks, including EU, USA, Australia, APAC (including India). Excellent working knowledge of EU Food regulations is a must, knowledge of and experience with additional jurisdictions are desirable.

Manage and oversee the EU and International Regulatory teams that are responsible for ensuring that registrations and marketing material are compliant with regional regulatory requirements, including usage of nutrition, health and other marketing claims.

Managing respective regional managers; mentoring team members, co-developing personal progression plans, coordinating workload for the team, analyse workload efficiency as a team and for individuals.

Identifying and provide resolution to strategic and tactical regulatory issues pertaining to food labelling and product composition in relevant global markets.

Drafting and establishing internal regulatory policies and training them out to internal THG staff.

Identify and provide resolution to strategic and tactical regulatory issues pertaining to food labelling and registrations.

Maintain an up to date knowledge of existing and new regulations pertaining to Food and Food Supplements, assess their impact and deliver reports to the business to enable effective planning, preparation and any appropriate action.

Giving second opinion on and risk assessing product recipes, specifications, labelling compliance, product registration, usage of claims, food product advertising material review

Cross functional collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Purchasing, Legal and others to leverage commercial opportunity and preparedness from proposed changes to regulations.

Develop an engagement and continuous improvement framework which ensures that other departments within THG understand the importance of regulatory affairs

Monitor and challenge relevant departments to ensure that all policies, procedures and standards are continuously adhered to

Assist Regulatory & Compliance Director in developing regulatory strategies that enable corporate growth and profitability and plan for further expansion of team as required to support the businesses’ plans for growth

Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate that you have

  • Qualification in either: Food Regulatory Affairs, Food Technology, Nutrition, Law, Food Science, Food Safety or other related subject.
  • Excellent working knowledge of regulations regarding food labelling, advertising, ideally selling Food Supplements across either EU or at least 1 international market across the globe
  • Excellent working knowledge of regulations regarding nutrition, health and other marketing claims present on product labelling, websites, marketing material for compliance with EU and local regulatory requirements.
  • Proven track record and experience managing a team and complex workload.
  • Organised and capable of prioritising, good attention to detail, confident decision maker.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Great stakeholder management skills plus ability to effectively communicate with higher level management within the wider business.
  • Commercial awareness is essential.
  • Experience with drafting and establishing internal policies and training them out to internal staff, experience with approval of product recipes, specifications, labelling compliance, product registration, usage of claims, food product advertising material review.
