This borderless and innovative model enables education loan financing to students from across the globe, whilst using predicted post-degree affordability rather than present-day salary. Since 2007, Prodigy Finance has extended almost US$1 billion through the platform to fund over 16,000 students from over 150 countries.
Our team of over 200 (and growing) is already truly global. Our head office is in London with much of the team being based in beautiful Cape Town. We also have an office in New York plus team members based across Europe and Asia.

What you will do in the role
We're looking for an experienced business development professional to build and lead our Sales & Marketing team in India. The role is ideal for someone who wants to play a strategic role, is a skilled negotiator and relationship builder, and can recruit, lead and motivate teams to reach performance targets.
Reporting to the Regional Partnership Manager, this is a new position at Prodigy Finance that will work closely with the Marketing, Partnerships, Product and BD teams to continue to expand our presence in India.
Specific responsibilities are to:
Serve as Prodigy Finance’s market lead in India responsible for developing a team of high performance business development professionals and acting as a leader to other locally staffed functions
Lead our India team of business development and marketing professionals. Determine the future structure of the sales and marketing team in India and recruit additional team members
Develop and execute a successful partnership strategy in India, identifying, executing and managing productive partnerships that elevate brand awareness and drive growth in applications for Prodigy Finance’s services
Support our growth agenda by setting and achieving daily / weekly / monthly India targets for team members, and monitor performance in India
Identify opportunities for additional growth including product adaptation and improved borrower experience
Work closely with product and marketing teams to share insights that will support improvements to the borrower experience and act as an input decision making and overall strategy
Evangelise and market the Prodigy Finance proposition and promote Prodigy Finance as a local subject matter expert in international education
What you will be measured on
Building and managing a network of high performing partners in India
Achieving quarterly and annual lead generation targets for Prodigy Finance’s student loan products
Increasing market awareness of Prodigy Finance products and services amongst Indian families
Developing and maintaining an exceptional team
What you need to be great at
A dynamic and effective leader, comfortable managing a distributed team through a period of exponential growth
Strong negotiation skills and an aptitude for long-term relationship and partnership building
Structured, highly organised, able to multi-task & manage multiple projects and campaigns across different channels
Bias to action & execution

Who we are looking for; track record must haves
A relevant university qualification from a recognised university
Study Abroad experience (either as a student or prior association with study abroad firm international masters school)
8+ years of experience of (post-university) work experience in a BD / Marketing / Partnerships capacity
5+ years as a leader for partnerships, business development, growth marketing or other business related teams
Leadership & general management skills, especially in setting strategy, gaining alignment, & building a strong team
Track record of delivery in fast-paced environments, with proven strong organisational and planning skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to develop relationships, structure deals, negotiate, and problem solve with external partners.
Analytical ability - comfortable analysing & gaining insight from unstructured data across multiple platforms
Willingness to travel
Experience that would be nice to have (but we’ll trade off if everything else fits)
Experience working with a global cross-functional team
Exposure to fin-tech / lending platforms
Experience working with Product teams and growing/distributing new products.
Startup experience. Sometimes the earth moves beneath your feet at Prodigy Finance so you have to be comfortable with ambiguity, able to wear lots of hats, and adapt easily as we continue to grow
