As a Sales Engineering Manager, you are responsible for building and running a team of 6-10 regionally distributed Sales Engineers throughout EMEA. You will grow the team already in place and work in close collaboration with regional sales and partnership teams to align on go-to-market strategy, role focus and locations in order to support our continued exponential growth.

Contentful’s Sales Engineers explain and demonstrate the benefits of our platform and approach regarding content management to developers, product managers, marketing leaders, and C-level executives. Our Sales Engineers advocate for keystone customer needs, and synthesize their in-market experiences to provide strategic insights to our Product and leadership teams.

Our Sales Engineers are critical members of our sales team and own key components of the sales process including infrastructural/architectural discovery, collaborative solution design, and technical validation. Sales Engineers may travel up to 25% of the time and will have the opportunity to work with teams around the world, from visionary brands to innovative digital agencies.

In collaboration with our Solution Architects, Sales Engineers at Contentful also play a critical role after the conclusion of a sales contract by continuing to advise and assist the customers’ developers and implementation teams in conjunction with the efforts of our Customer Success Management team. We believe that continuity in our customer relationships helps us understand and ensure achievement of the customers' goals.


  • Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Sales Engineers
  • Step in and help out on Sales Engineering duties as required
  • Partner with regional sales and partnership teams on go-to-market strategy
  • Build and refine scalable sales engineering processes
  • In partnership with the sales management team, formulate and execute a customer-focused strategy to drive adoption of Contentful
  • Coach Sales Engineers in the skills needed to conduct one-to-few and one-to-many technical sessions so they can transfer deep technical skills to customers who are considering or using Contentful
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the sales engineering community
  • Guide and motivate the development of whitepapers, datasheets, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices
  • Act as a conduit and liaison between customers, service engineering teams, customer success and support
  • Providing Technology Leadership and Strategy including inputs into building new capabilities, technical readiness and offers based on emerging technologies and market trends
  • Serve as regional sponsor for key customer technical relationships


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a comparable field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of SaaS sales engineering management experience, preferably with employees in multiple and remote locations
  • Recent industry experience with current web technologies and cloud concepts (microservices, Javascript, APIs, CDNs, etc.)
  • Experience and excitement about disruptive technology solutions
  • Ability to speak in public and in front of an audience is required
