The Zopa Reliability Engineering (ZRE) team is a central team and works on the platform and infrastructure that is the core of the Zopa products. The team is pivotal to the day to day running of all the production systems for our internal and external customers. We strive to empower the wider engineering team to be self-sufficient and we create tools and automation to make the engineering teams life easier. With our technology currently spread across two data centres and in AWS, we are continuing to expand our IT estate to cope with the increasing demand of our products. The ZRE team is a diverse and welcoming team made of extremely bright individuals that truly enjoy working as a team. The environment is highly collaborative, with a special attention to the individual, without big egos.
About the role:
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer you will form part of the team which is not only responsible for the daily running of IT systems, but also key for the Platform strategy that will drive where Zopa is going next. Zopa utilises multiple technologies across many applications and the team is responsible for supporting the entire stack from hardware through to delivery of applications. Our technology platform is heavily code-driven, and part of your role is to continually improve the way we manage our infrastructure and drive the adoption of the latest technologies to further enhance our capabilities.
3+ years’ experience in supporting enterprise multi-site datacentres
Excellent experience working with AWS services, particularly EC2, EBS, S3, RDS
Experience in infrastructure-as-code tools, preferably Terraform
Scripting languages (Powershell, PowerCli, Bash)
Collaborating via version control system such as Git
Load-balancers e.g. F5 BigIP, A10 Thunder
Experience in hybrid/all-flash storage systems
Solid understanding of basic network concepts and protocols e.g. TCP/IP, IPSec, DNS, LDAP, FibreChannel and iSCSI
Equally proficient in Windows and Linux
Have initiative and the ability to plan and prioritise work efficiently
Have attention to detail and commitment to quality
Nice to have:
VMware vSphere suite
Microsoft SQL Server – we won’t need you to understand SQL but you will often be working with DBA team to support their activities.
